v4.c51.s7.19

Lesteneau was an older soldier than De Boigne and with a longer Indian experience gained in the armies of Najaf Khan and the Jat Rajah. While pursuing Ghulām Qādir (in December 1788) he captured that Ruhelā's saddle-bags stuffed with looted jewels, and on returning to Agra he drew his soldiers' pay from Sindhia but escaped to Europe with all that cash and his jewellery* (early in 1789).
