Leaving Aligarh on 2nd May, Perron joined Ambājī Inglé near Siyānā on the 8th, and the two marched together subduing the refractory zamindārs of the middle Doab—Siyānā, Parichitgarh, Sāharanpur, &c., and even trying to force Begam Samru to acknowledge herself as his vassel. But this last attempt was given up, on the strong objection of the Emperor and Sindhiā. So they retired to their bases at the end of June.
