¹ This conclusion seems a natural inference from the two records of Aḍalaiyūr Nāḍāḷvān (30 and 32 of 1909) in which he refers to the fourth year of Śrīvallabha and the forty-ninth year of Kulōttunga. We know that Śrīvallabha reigned for at least twenty-three years and we may assume that for the bulk of it his reign overlapped Kulōttunga’s. We shall have, otherwise, to credit Aḍalaiyūr Nāḍāḷvān with a rather unusual length of active life, nineteen *plus* forty-nine years, as there seems to be little doubt that the forty-ninth year of Kulōttunga was later than the fourth of Śrīvallabha.
