The next Pāṇḍya king, perhaps the immediate successor of Māravarman Parākrama Pāṇḍya, seems to have been a Jaṭāvarman Parāntaka Pāṇḍya. He is known to us so far only from one record of his at Kanyākumāri. Fortunately the record is full and gives a clear account of the king’s reign.² The historical introduction commences beautifully thus ‘திருவளரச் செயம்வளர தென்ன
