This king Rājasimha is also said to have performed many Gōsahasras, Hiranyagarbhas and Tulābhāras and to have relieved the distress of Brahmins learned in the Vedas. He is also reported, lastly, to have renewed Kūḍal, Vanji and Kōḷi. If this is a reference to the three capitals of the Pāṇdyas, the Cheras and the Cholas, the power of Rājasimha must have been very great indeed.¹ His rule may be taken to have extended from about A.D. 740 to about, say, five years before A.D. 770 which was definitely in the reign of his successor, and corresponded to some regnal year later than the third in his reign.²
