Rājādhirāja's *praśastis* are usually found in two forms, one of them rather short, commencing *tiṅgaḷēr-pera-vaḷar*, which records only the earlier achievements of the king and seems to have been stereotyped about the twenty-sixth year of his rule and repeated in that form in some of his later records. The longer form *tiṅgaḷēr-taru* has many variations and in fact it is seen to have gone through several editions, so to say, some giving more details of transactions only briefly mentioned in others.¹⁴ A few of the inscriptions of the later years mention fresh transactions not found in the earlier records;¹⁵ others simply repeat the older forms without making them up-to-date. Further, there is a *praśasti* beginning *tirukkoḍiyoḍu tyāgakkoḍi* giving no new information and confirming some of the details of the Cāḷukyan war found in other records.
