The Ceylon war of Rājādhirāja briefly mentioned in the last chapter may now be considered in more detail. Some of the earlier inscriptions²² of Rājādhirāja briefly record that the king of Laṅkā, the garlanded Vallava, and the king of the Kannakucciyar (people of Kanauj), suffered decapitation at the hands of Rājēndra. The more detailed account of the occurrences as found in some of the later records²³ is as follows:—
