We may also note Madhurāntaka Pottappiccōḷa Siddharasa, one of whose inscriptions⁶⁶ found at Nandalūr clearly attests the extent of the Cōḷa empire in that direction. A curious inscription from Tirugōkarṇam in the Pudukkōttah state mentions a clan of Brahmins who exercised the right of crowning kings and who had been settled in the Ten-kavira-nāḍu by the king Kiḷḷi who had a regard for their ancient connection with the great city of Tuvarai (Dvārakā).⁶⁷ The presence in the Pāṇḍya country of Lambakarṇas with special duties at the coronation of a king is noticed in the *Mahāvaṃsa*.⁶⁸
