The *tiramam* is occasionally found mentioned in inscriptions; it is not clear if it was a coin or only a smaller unit of reckoning. At Kāñcīpuram, in A.D. 1076, six *tiramams* went to the *kāśu*,⁵⁹ while more than forty years later, the *kāśu* was the equal of seven *tiramams*⁶⁰ in the Ramnad district.
