The *Bōdam* was preceded by two short works which may be said to stand almost in the relation of text and commentary.⁴⁶ These are the *Tiruvundiyār* and *Tirukkalirṟuppaḍiyār* by two authors, teacher and disciple according to tradition, and both known by the name or rather title Uyya-vanda-dēvar. They are both works meant to present in an easy style the main aspects of Śaiva doctrine and practice.
