The temple as a whole is a veritable sculpture gallery of varied iconography. Of the two *gōpuras*, the inner one is dilapidated at the top, but the outer main *gōpura* is complete. There is another ruined *gōpura* on the west behind the temple. They are all squat rectangular structures like the Tanjore *gōpura* not in any way to be compared to the imposing pylons reared by the Pāṇḍyas of the second empire very soon affer Kulōttunga III. This is the last temple to preserve the predominance of the *vimāna* characteristic of the Cōḷa style of architecture.
