In the latter half of the thirteenth and early fourteenth century were built a number of temples marked by their heavy proportions and a scarcity of external figure sculpture. They are generally referred to as in the Hemadpanti style—Hemādri, or Hemadpant, as we have seen, being a minister of the last Yādava rulers of Devagiri and reputed to be the builder of many religious edifices. Examples of this style are not confined to the Deccan but extend to Madhya Pradesh (the Berars) also.
