² Senhor Lopes's "Chronica" has "*hũ homẽ seu que aquelle tempo d aquelle tempo muito sabia.*" Mr. Ferguson suggests, and with good reason, that for the second *tempo* we should read *jogo*. I have translated the passage accordingly. Senhor Lopes concurs.
