² i. e. the province of Jejāka; the name Jejāka or Jejā occurs in the inscriptions (*Ep. Ind.*, i, 121). Compare Tīrabhukti, Tirhūt. The name of the ruling clan is Chandēl in Hindī, Chandella in Sanskrit. It is better to use the Hindī form.
