⁷ Polyb. XI, 34, 9. It means one who has ceased to be a boy, παῖς, but is not yet a man, ἀνήρ (Plat. *Rep.* 413E), and on ordinary Greek reckoning a youth was ἀνήρ, a full warrior, when he had finished his ephebe training (19th and 20th years).
