² No. 19 of the Nasik cave inscriptions (p. 257 n. 3). Weber *ib.* pointed out that the term Dattāmitriya used in another scholion to Patañjali for an inhabitant of Dattāmitrī is only the Sanscrit form of the Prakrit Damtāmitiyaka of the inscription, for which he suggested Datāmitiyaka; since then E. Senart has in fact read the word in the inscription as Datāmitiyaka, *Ep. Ind.* VIII, 1905-6, p. 90 no. 18. See also on the identification of the towns of the scholion and the inscription N. R. Ray, *IHQ* IV, 1928, p. 743. It seems free from doubt.
