⁵ First mentioned as such in the *Hou-han-shu* (Chavannes' translation, *T'oung Pao* VIII p. 187). In the *Ch'ien-han-shu* the Yueh-chi 'capital' is still north of the Oxus, Wylie p. 40, de Groot p. 95; but as Pan-ku is not giving the later history of the Yueh-chi this gives no help over the date.
