⁴ *BMC* pp. 61 nos. 4, 5, 66 nos. 51-5; *Lahore Cat.* pp. 78 no. 637, 84 no. 679. Sabazios is often bearded and wears a Phrygian cap (Eisele, *Sabazios* in Roscher IV 245 fig. 4, 247 fig. 7; *ib.* the Copenhagen relief, also in A. B. Cook, *Zeus* I, facing p. 392; Schaefer, *Sabazios* in PW I A 2, *op. cit.* 1548-50) but is never radiate (Eisele, *ib.* 263). Sozon, however, identified with Sabazios by Ramsay, Perdrizet, Cumont, and Höfer (PW *ib.* col. 1282), though others dispute the identification, is radiate. But it would be a very long shot to suggest that the type might be a conflation of Sabazios and Sozon and that Amyntas or some ancestor might have come from Anatolia; though the type cannot be meant for the heads of Amyntas and Hermaeus themselves (as Whitehead in *Lahore Cat.* takes it) for several reasons.
