¹ The tariff of Koptos of A.D. 90, OGIS 674 (γυναικῶν πρὸς ἑταιρισμόν); L. Fiesel, *Gött. Nachr.* 1925 pp. 96 sqq.; cf. Andréadès op. cit. p. 17 n. 1. Fiesel, p. 101, asks if the import tax, more than five times that on a soldier’s ‘wife’, was meant to be prohibitive; it might only mean that the traffic was extremely lucrative and could stand a high tax.
