⁸ O. Stein op. cit. p. 354 tried to make Saphā the feminine of ‘the Indian name transliterated as Sophon’ in Σόφων ’Ινδός (p. 370 n. 2). But Σόφων ’Ινδός is only a conjectural emendation, and Sophon is not an Indian name but a well-known Greek one; Susemihl 1 p. 878 and Ditt.³ 1021 may suffice here.
