¹ It is difficult to separate the Buddha-image at Mathurā from the Jina-image; and according to Ramaprasad Chanda, *ASI* 1925–6 p. 124, all the Jain images of the Mathurā group are dated, and dated in the Kushan period, except one figure on a tablet of homage, which *may* be as old as the Christian Era.
