The ‘regio Attene’ near Gerrha of Pliny VI, 148 is identical with Polybius’ Χατρηνία, the third χώρα or province of the Gerrhaeans.² That the Gerrhaeans, who were closely associated with the Seleucids throughout, would organise on the Seleucid model, as did the Nabataeans, is obvious.
