Pliny VI, 43 gives the Median Apamea, which was really in Choarene,⁶ as ‘Apamea Rhagiane cognominata’; this is only an adjective, Apamea ‘the Rhagian’,⁷ like its Antiochia Syria, ‘the Syrian’.⁸
