³ Besides Zetis and Naumachaeorum here given, I have noticed the following. Pliny VI, 50, ibi Napaei interisse dicuntur a Palaeis = λέγονται ὑπὸ παλαιῶν (‘ancient writers’ have become a tribe). VI, 92, praefluens Parabesten Arachosiorum = παρὰ Βεστήν (Bestia desolata of the Peutinger Table). VI, 92, Cataces, v.l. Cateces, a tribe in Paropamisadae = κάτοικοι (p. 99). VI, 96, Xylinepolis ab Alexandro condita (repeated by various modern writers) = ξυλίνη πόλις, ‘a town built of wood’ (p. 244). Doubtless a search would reveal others. There is a famous one in Ptol. III, 2, 27, noticed by Nobbe: town Σιατούτανδα = Tac. Ann. IV, 72, ad sua tutanda.
