Jos. *Ant.* XII, 125 *sqq.*, must have been complete enough for a time, witness Smyrna under his son Seleucus II, *OGIS* 229; Tarn, *Hell. Civ.*² p. 151. There is a good examination of the position of these cities under Antiochus III by E. Bickermann, *Hermes* LXVII, 1932, p. 47; but I have doubts about his whittling down (p. 59) of the original *symmachy*.
