³ The only formations mentioned are 1000 Median horse of Antiochus III at Magnesia (Livy XXXVII, 40), and the corresponding 1000 ἱππεῖς Νισαῖοι of Antiochus IV (Polyb. XXX, 25); but some of the cataphracts of either king have been Iranian. As to Raphia, Polyb. V, 79 gives no information.
