⁴ K. Regling, *De belli Parthici Crassiani fontibus* 1899 pp. 8–11, first effectively investigated this writer and called him an Asiatic Greek, but brought in the now discredited Timagenes theory; W. Otto, *Hyrodes* in PW, rightly discarded Timagenes and said a Greek of Mesopotamia.
