⁶ Ib., substitution in l. 1178 of the direct τίς ἐφόνευσε for τίς ἀ βαλοῦσα πρώτα, the reading of the single ms (Vaticanus), which was inapposite. The choragus is echoing Agave’s last words in l. 1177, (Κιθαιρὼν) κατεφόνευσέ νιν, perhaps on the spur of the moment; but he might have thought of it beforehand, if Artavasdes really arranged the incident of the head to please Orodes.
