v2.c29.t2.132
Malba.—6. Malba ² is the name of the original tax which the Jat communities imposed [207] upon themselves, when they submitted to the sway in perpetuity of Bika and his successors. It is the land-tax ³ of two rupees on each hundred bighas of land cultivated in Bikaner. It is now unproductive, not realizing fifty thousand rupees, and it is said that a composition has been effected, by which it has been, or will be, relinquished : if so, Surat Singh gives up the sole legitimate source of revenue he possesses.
