v3.c41.s1.30
¹ Kot is ‘a fortress’; but it may be applied simply to the number of bastions of Nain, which in the number of its gates might rival Thebes. Lohwan, built on its ruins, contains three thousand houses, and has eighty-four townships dependent on it. [In the third line of the verse Major Luard’s Pandit reads for *vado*, *dūbo*, ‘annihilated’; in the fourth for *vāmto*, he gives *muttha*, ‘a handful.’]
