The Kurus seem to have occupied the Cis-Sutlej districts, and may be associated with the Kurukṣetra or Thanesvar. In the *Bṛhatsaṃhitā*¹ they are classed among the Matsyas and the Pāñcālas as belonging to the Middle Country.
