⁴ H. M. H. I., Vol. III, p. 217 f. Dr. R. C. Majumdar throws out a suggestion that the Gāhaḍavālas were perhaps of Karṇāṭaka origin like the Senas of Bengal and Nānyadeva of Mithila. He traces the name Gāhaḍavāla to Gawarmād mentioned in a Kanarese inscription of Śaka 994 (See Ind. Hist. Quart., VII (1931), p. 634, note 1).
