In this the country to the east of Benares is called the eastern country. The peoples therein are Aṅga, Kaliṅga, Kośala, Tosala, Utkala, Magadha, Muḍgara, Videha, Nepāla, Pauṇḍra, Prāgjyotiṣa, Tāmralipta, Malada, Malla, Vartaka, Sumha, Brahmottara &c. The big rivers (Nada) are Soṇa and Lauhitya and lesser rivers (Nadis) are Gayā, Karatoyā, Kapiśā &c. The products are Lavali, Granthaparṇika, Aguru, Drākṣa, Kastūrī and others.
