This successor was Devapālavarman, a grandson of Lakshmīvarman of the collateral line, Arjunavarman probably dying childless. The Jain Pandit Āśādhara lived during his reign also, as he says he finished his Triśashṭismṛiti in 1235 A. D. in the reign of this king and he lived on during the reign of the next king Jayatungadeva also as he says he composed his commentary on Dharmāmṛita, a work of his own, in 1244 A. D. during his reign. Devapāladeva, therefore, may safely be taken to have ruled from 1216 to 1240 A. D. (Col. Luard and Lele).
