He was succeeded by Lakshmaṇasena who was as great a king as his father. The capital of the Senas was Gaura a town in the present Malda district in Bengal (which is indeed an ancient town). But Lakshmaṇasena built another town outside its wall and named it Lakshmaṇāvatī in the same way as other great kings in this sub-period founded towns after their names viz: Karṇa of Chedi founded Karṇāvatī and Vikramāṅka of Kalyāṇa founded Vikramapura, both near their former capitals Tripura and Kalyāṇa. Lakshmaṇasena was powerful enough to found an era of his own like Vikrama of Kalyan or Jaisimha of Anhilwad. The starting year of this era is 1119 A. D. as settled by Kielhorn and the era, unlike the other two eras, is still prevalent in Tirhut.
