v1.c7.s6.82

After Gaurakṛṣṇa came Hāla. His was a brief reign of one year. Yet he won for himself a niche among the great poets of all time. He collected and edited a number of erotic verses, gāthas, of excellent taste and elegance.² But we have practically no evidence of any of the political events of his reign except what is supplied by a later work, Līlāvatī. Allowing for all misstatements and distortions, this document connects him with an expedition to the eastern part of his realm, Saptagodāvarī, identified with modern Dakshārāma in the Godāvarī District.
