Prōla I took an active part in the military campaigns of his sovereign and overlord Sōmēśvara I. According to Bilhaṇa, the author of the Vikramaṅkadēvacharita, Brahma or Bamma of the Rēcherla family, were the contemporaries and subordinates of the Western Chālukyan king, Trailōkyamalla Sōmēśvara I (A.D. 1044–68 or Śaka 966–90).
