(b) *The Northern and North-Eastern Mountain (Himālayan) Zone.* The following intermontane valley region which are fairly well known have rightly been included by the Purāṇas in their list of the janapadas of the Indus Basin, since all of them lie on the affluents of the Indus which join it on its left or eastern bank.
