c13.s2.8

In the beginning there was the non-existent. It became existent and then grew. It turned into an egg (aṇḍa). The egg, after lying quiescent for one year, broke into two halves, one of silver and the other of gold. The former became the earth and the latter the heaven, the thick membrane turned into mountains, the thin into clouds, the small veins became rivers and the fluid became the sea. (Chānd. Up., VI. 32-3).
