In the majority of Purāṇas it is a dwīpa next to Jambū. In some it is omitted and its place is taken by Gomeda (Skanda, Matsya, Varāha Purāṇas and Siddhānta Śiromaṇi). It does not appear in the list of dwīpas given in the Padma Purāṇa and the Mahābhārata.
