(2) The climate of Dhātaki and Mahāvitam which form part of the Puṣkaradvīpa is of 'dry' type, since 'It does not rain there, neither are there any rivers in those regions. The climate is also not influenced by heat or cold (i.e., it is dry all the year round). The water supply and plant life of the country depends on water from the hills' (Matsya).
