Uttara-Madra—Media in Persia. Media is a corrupted form of Mada or Māḍa which is a corruption of Madra, the Uttara-Madra of the Purāṇas. Media comprised the province of Azerbijan (the Airyanan-vejo of the Avesta). See Ariana.
