According to the Mahāvagga, Kajaṅgala formed the western boundary of the Pūrvadeśa. It is the Ka-chu-wen-ki-lo of Yuan Chwang and is to be located somewhere in the Rājmahal district. It is the Kayaṅgala of the Commentary on the Rāmapālacarita.
