The Matsyapurāṇa reads Ātta-khaṇḍikas or Cātta-khaṇḍikas and the Bhīṣmaparvan list of the Mahābhārata (IX, 355) Carmamaṇḍalas instead. These names are not identifiable. Pargiter’s suggestion of its identification with Samarkand is interesting.
