It has been identified with Kāmptānāthgiri in Bundelkhand. It is usually identified with the mountain of the same name in the Banda district, U.P., about 20 miles north-north-east of Kalinjar.¹⁴ The Mahābhārata (III. 85. 56) associates it with Kālañjara. As regards its identification we may also refer to A.S.R., XIII and XXI and J.R.A.S., 1894.
