Hiraññavatī (Hiraṇyavatī).—It is the little Gandak and the same as the Ajitavatī near Kusīnārā. It flows through the district of Gorakhpur about eight miles to the west of the great Gandak and falls from the Gogrā or Ghogrā (Sarayū). The Śāla-grove of the Mallas of Kusīnārā existed on the bank of this river (Dīgha, II, 137).
