Jawalāmukhī.—It is an ancient site in the Dera Gopipur tahsil of the Kangra district in the Punjab, situated on the road from Kangra town to Nadaun. It was once a considerable and opulent town, as its ruins testify. It is now chiefly famous for the temple of the goddess Jawalāmukhī, which lies in the Beas Valley. (For further details, see Law, *Holy Places of India*, p. 24).
