*Kuśivatī.*—It is an older name of Kuśinārā where the Buddha obtained *Mahāparinibbāna* (Jāt., I, 292; V, 278, 285, 293, 294, 297). It was near the modern village of Kāsīā on the smaller Gaṇḍak, 37 miles to the east of Gorakhpur, and to the north-west of Bettia (C.A.G.I., 713, 714; J.R.A.S., 1913, 152).
