*Mahobā*.—It is the ancient Mahotsavapura in the Hammirpur district of the Uttara Pradeśa. Here a stone inscription of Paramardin of the Vikrama year 1240 was discovered by Cunningham in 1843. It contains a praśasti of Paramardin and mentions his battles in Aṅga, Vaṅga and Kaliṅga. The praśasti was composed by Jayapāla of the Vāstavya family. This inscription has now been edited by V. V. Mirashi (Bhārata Kaumudī, Pt. I, pp. 433ff.).
