*Srughna*.—It was situated 38 or 40 miles from Thaneswar. It was known to Hiuen Tsang as *Su-lukin-na*. It was 1,000 miles in circuit. On the east it extended to the Ganges and on the north to a range of lofty mountain, while the Jumna flowed through the midst of it. According to Cunningham, it must have comprised the hilly areas of Sirmor and Garhwal, lying between the rivers Giri and the Ganges with portions of the districts of Ambala and Saharanpur (C.A.G.I., pp. 395ff.).
